"THE VENTURES are considered the most influential, best-selling Instrumental Band in ROCK AND ROLL history.
Over 450 (LPs and CDs including compilations) Released Worldwide."

"THE VENTURES have written over 1000 tunes, and recorded over 3000 songs altogether! If they ever decide to play all of the songs that they've ever recorded, it would take almost 5 days - without a break - to play them all."

"While they predated the advent of the terms surf guitar and surf rock, and they do not consider themselves a surf music group, they were a major building block of instrumental guitar-driven music. "Guitar Player", in an article titled "20 Essential Rock Albums", cited elements of their 1960 "Walk, Don't Run - Album" (Dolton Records BLP-2003 (mono) / BST-8003 (stereo)) which presaged the coming surf trend."

"Most instrumental groups of the 1950s and '60s disappeared after one hit, but the longevity of The Ventures, the best-selling instrumental group of all time, demonstrated the enduring appeal of the genre as well as the band's skill in choosing recording material."

"It was the electric guitars that made the impression; that and the unique rhythmic pulse that Wilson and Bogle had developed in 1958 in Tacoma, Washington, when they tried to make up for the fact that they didn't know any drummers, let alone pianists or sax players. At the time, most record companies wouldn't look at you if you had neither.
- "I played a very percussive rhythm-guitar style", Wilson says: "And Bob used to play with the whammy bar, and once in a white instead of a note he'd hit a chord and give it a little vibrato".
But the most distinctive element of The Ventures sound was that damped, rapidly picked descending glissando, which Japanese call "deke-deke-deke"."

"Through the nuances and characteristics of "THE VENTURES STYLE" in the songs, we can distinguish the unique songs played by them.
This is the "VENTURIZED SOUND". Enjoy !"

"Needles And Pins" Song (1964)

The song was originally created simultaneously with the progression of Jack Nitzsche's guitar chords and the lyrics sung by Sonny Bono. It can be said that this song was the origin of the "Folk Rock" music style of the duo of couple Sonny & Cher started in 1964.

This song was recorded in Single in 1963 and very well performed by pretty American singer and songwriter Jackie DeShannon (click for details: The Story Of Jackie DeShannon).

She was one of the first female singer-songwriters in the Rock and Roll period and with hit credits from the 1960s onwards. She was also collaborator with Van Morrison, Randy Newman, Sharon Sheeley, Jimmy Page, Michael McDonald... knew Eddie Cochran and dated Elvis Presley, Bryan MacLean... She opened the American tour of The Beatles in 1964.

Jack Nitzsche arrangement. Producer Dick Glasser. Liberty Records Label.

It reached 84th in Billboard's Hot 100 Single Chart in the USA, 58th in Cashbox (magazine) and reached 1st place in Canada's Single Chart.

THE VENTURES Group made its instrumental version of the guitar with Nokie Edwards virtuosly using the techniques of bend, slide, hammer and striking effect of "FUZZ" on the Mosrite guitar with the "Red Rhodes Fuzz box" (click for details) .

It was recorded on the LP Album "The Fabulous Ventures" by Dolton Label from Liberty Records in June 1964.

From this LP "The Fabulous Ventures", Dick Glasser takes over from Bob Reisdorf as producer. Dick Glasser was a singer, songwriter and music producer for several artists, including The Markets, The Everly Brothers, Hank Williams Jp. and other.

In 1999, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the group, a CD was released by M&I Company with 16 songs "The Ventures Play 'Runaway' - Don Wilson's Favorite Vocals", where a track of this song was recorded with the vocal version of Don Wilson.

And in 2009 celebrating 50th Years of carrer together with The Fabulous Wailers, the CD was released by Blue Horizon Records "Two Car Garage" with vocals by Don Wilson and The Fabulous Wailers group.

It is a beautiful ballad that later turned into a hit by several artists such as The Searchers, Cher, Del Shannon, The Turtles, Smokie, Petula Clark, Ramones, etc. And it reached the peak of 1st place in European countries.

TWIST DEGLI AMANTI "L'ECLISSE" Song (2003)

The song "L'ECLISSE TWIST" was composed by GIOVANNI FUSCO and sung by MINA (Anna Maria Mazzini). It was the theme song of the Italian-French drama film "L'Eclisse" (The Eclipse) of 1962, directed by Master Michelangelo Antonioni with brilliant Monica Vitti and Alain Delon in the main cast. Last part of Michelangelo Antonioni's unintentional "Trilogy of Incommunicability" on alienation in modern society. The previous sequence is "L'Avventura" and "La Notte". It is a feature film where a metaphor of the city's architecture was used to express the void between the characters. A masterpiece and landmark of modern cinema. He received the "Special Jury Prize" (Prix spécial du jury) at the 15th Festival de Cannes in 1962 and nomination for the "Gold Palm" (Palme d'Or).

* [Curiosity: The film "The Payer of Promises" (O Pagador de Promessas) (click for details - text Rafael Novelo in portuguese) of Portuguese-Brazilian production by Anselmo Duarte, based on the play by Dias Gomes with a notable cast by Leonardo Villar, Glória Menezes, Dionísio Azevedo, Norma Bengell, Geraldo Del Rey, Othon Bastos, Antonio Pitanga was the winner of the maximum award  "Palme d'Or" at this Cannes Film Festival as the best film. And the following year in 1963, the nomination for the best foreign language film at the 35th Academy Awards (The Oscar). An unprecedented and unique fact achieved by Brazil.]

THE VENTURES rescued this song in 2003 and made its instrumental version with Gerry McGee, Bob Spalding, Bob Bogle, Leon Taylor and Keyboards Billy Mac. It was recorded on a CD entitled "Your Hit Parade 60's"  and released by M&I Company, Japan (MYCV-30195).

"TOMORROW'S LOVE" (1965)

This song was recorded by Liberty Records on the LP "Knock Me Out!" February 1965 with composition by (Don Wilson / Bob Bogle / Nokie Edwards / Mel Taylor) and production by Dick Glasser.

Listening to the song, it seems that it is played in a simple way. But Lead Guitarist Nokie Edwards exudes his "Country Bend" technique by running the frets with the fingers of his left hand and with spectacular finishing. There were also three "dubbing" on the rhythm guitar to have the amplitude of the sound.

Then you can enjoy The Ventures "Tomorrow's Love" and a cover of "picking and left hand".

My photo
I am a lover of all good music. My father was a pianist and at home we had piano and mandolin. In the 60s to 70s, when I was a child, my father took me weekly to watch and listen to the Classic Music concerts of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo (Brazil). At that time, we could only enter the theater with sober and classic clothes and leather shoes. - "A song can simply be played on the notes. But the music played with different intensities in each part, transmits liveliness and feeling in the music. The same music is differentiated and appreciated by others."

A Bridge Called Love

It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days,
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.

And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.

There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above…
It keeps our dear ones near us
It’s the bridge that we call Love.
