"Stars On Guitars"
New Movie About The Ventures
Coming Soon!
Yes, it has been a couple of years since you've heard from us -- but we haven't stopped working on the film, not for a moment. Since our last email to you, we've filmed brand new interviews with Don Wilson, plus special guests Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, musician/actors like Billy Bob Thornton and Eric Roberts... they all want to tell the world about how The Ventures and my dad/co-founder of the band, Don Wilson, influenced them... and it's nearly time unleash all this creativity!
Directed by me, Staci Layne Wilson, with my dad, and brother and sister Tim Wilson and Jill Fairbanks producing, we promise this will be the best documentary we can possibly bring you.
Band:
Started by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle in 1959, The Ventures went from humble beginnings in Tacoma, WA., to worldwide chart-topping highs and inductees into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the #1 Bestselling INstrumental Rock Group of all time. Their hits include: Walk, Don't Run; Hawaii 5-O; Pipeline; Wipeout; Perfidia, and many other memorable tunes.
How did they do it, and what keeps them going as they celebrate their 60th year? Who among your favorite bandshave they influenced, and what are some of the most surprising facts about The Ventures? In this family-made film, a true labor of love and passion project, you will learn the answers to all those questions--and more.
We just need a little help to get over the finish line. Are you a journalist or a blogger? Would you like to publish a story or interview Don about the movie? Are you a fan of The Ventures? Please share with your fellow enthusiasts.
Here are the links to share or/and check out the story for yourself--this one is unique because it's the children of a musician joining together to create the ultimate tribute.
Another unique perspective is the female angle to the story-- yes, The Ventures are a guy's guitar band, but you may not know that my grandma, Josie Wilson, was one of the first womam record producers in history (she was even awarded an honorary Grammy in the 2000s) . She helped get The Ventures' name out there. What's more, there are many female musicians who cite The Ventures as influences--we have interviews with The Surfrajettes, The Neptunas, The Whys, and Nashville star Liz Brasher.
Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Please kindly take a moment to read it her.
Thank you!
